We moms would gather after the kids left for school once a week, with each person bringing a dish she'd never cooked before and we'd all taste each other's experiments. The first meeting was at my house , and I remember that day still. It turned out well, but I was happy it was over. Once it became a weekly thing, it was great, though. Maybe after this, you could try something similar? People love to socialize and it sounds like a fun thing you and your friend are doing.
